O tema deste projeto é “O papel dos/as professores/as face às questões
relacionadas com o transgenerismo” e o estudo centra-se no segundo ciclo do
Ensino Básico.
A investigação centrou-se no seguinte problema de investigação: “Os/as
professores/as sentem dificuldades quando confrontados/as com questões
relacionadas com o transgenerismo e nas situações de discriminação por elas
criadas”, tendo sido formuladas quatro questões de investigação, com o
objetivo de detetar quais as dificuldades que os/as professores sentem nas
questões relacionadas com o transgenerismo e como iriam atuar perante
estas situações. Assim como no caso de terem um/a aluno/a com dúvidas em
relação à sua identidade de género. Uma das questões de investigação,
centrava-se nas dificuldades sentidas pelos/as alunos/as da licenciatura em
Educação Básica.
Na realização deste projeto foi feito um enquadramento teórico, onde são
referidas temáticas como o género, o transgenerismo, a transfobia, os/as
professores/as e os/as alunos/as transgénero e o combate à transfobia.
Foram realizadas duas intervenções práticas que possibilitaram a recolha
de dados e permitiram responder às questões de investigação. A primeira
intervenção foi um Focus Group, realizado com professores/as do Ensino
Básico e a segunda um World Café, realizado com alunos/as da licenciatura
em Educação Básica. Em ambas as intervenções, os dados foram recolhidos
através da observação e gravação áudio. No World Café foram, também,
recolhidos registos escritos.
Os resultados obtidos revelaram as dificuldades sentidas, em situações
relacionadas com o transgenerismo, pelos/as professores/as do Ensino Básico
e alunos/as da licenciatura em Educação Básica, assim como as atitudes
destes/as perante estas situações.
This project’s theme is "The teacher’s role when faced with issues related
to transgenderism" and the study focuses on the second cycle of elementary
education.
The investigation focused on the following research problem: "Teachers
experience difficulties when faced with issues related to transgenderism and
situations of discrimination caused by it" and four research questions were
defined, in order to detect what difficulties teachers feel when it comes to
transgenderism and how they would act in the presence of these situations.
As well as if they had a student with doubts about his/her gender identity.
One of the research questions focussed on the difficulties experienced by the
students of the Elementary Education degree.
During the realization of this project a theoretical analysis was performed,
in which subjects such as gender, transgenderism, transphobia, teachers and
transgender students and how to combat transphobia are mentioned.
Two practical activities were conducted to allow data collection, in order to
answer the research questions defined. The first activity was a Focus Group
conducted with Elementary teachers and the second one was a World Café
held with students of the Elementary Education degree. In both, the data was
collected through observation and audio recording. Written records were also
collected from the World Café activity.
The obtained results revealed the difficulties experienced in situations
related to transgenderism, by Elementary teachers and students of the
Elementary Education degree, as well as the their attitudes when facing these
situations.
