Sofia Gonçalves has a professional career in education, combining teaching experience, pedagogical direction and scientific research. With a career marked by national and international experience, she has stood out for her involvement in educational management and the supervision of impactful pedagogical and social projects. Between 2006 and 2009, as well as from 2011 to 2017, she held the position of pedagogical director at the Bissaya Barreto Foundation, and later assumed the same responsibility at the Portuguese College of Cape Verde, part of the network of Portuguese Schools Abroad, between 2017 and 2019. In parallel, she has dedicated herself to supervising and implementing educational and social projects, both in Portugal and abroad. His passion for education also translates into investment in initiatives to promote reading and access to knowledge. Since 2009, she has led the creation of libraries in schools and institutions in Cape Verde, through the “Viajar com Livros” project, in collaboration with various Portuguese partners. Her commitment to educational innovation was recognized in 2020, when she won second place in the Manuel António da Mota Prize for the creation of the “Escola On” technological platform, developed in response to the emerging needs of the pandemic. Academically, Sofia Gonçalves has a PhD in Education Sciences, specializing in the Organization of Teaching, Learning and Teacher Training. Her scientific output includes publications in specialized journals and book chapters, as well as presentations at academic events. At the same time, she has been a member of organizing committees for congresses, conferences and seminars, in particular the International Seminar of the ESREA Network (European Society for the Research on the Education of Adults), held in 2019, dedicated to the theme “Access, Learning Careers and Identities” and the 1st Colloquium on Integrated Practices in Education, held in 2023. She is currently a researcher on European research projects at the Center for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra. Since 2017, she has also been a lecturer in higher education in Portugal, at the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra - School of Education, and internationally, at the University of Santiago, in Cape Verde. In recent years, as a result of her experience as Pedagogical Director, she has been the director of the School Administration and Organization course at the School of Education and has supervised projects, master's dissertations and doctorates in her area of specialization. Her career reflects a solid commitment to education, pedagogical innovation and research, with a significant impact on both teacher training and the implementation of innovative educational practices. She is an expert in the External Evaluation of Schools by the Inspectorate-General for Education.
