Between History and Fiction: A Casa de Eulália by Manuel Tiago

Journal

This essay proposes a reading of Manuel Tiago's novel A Casa de Eulália (1997). In it, Manuel Tiago (a pseudonym of Álvaro Cunhal) recreates parts of a life dedicated to resistance and to political commitment, on wich the fight for ideals, but also values such as solidarity and brotherhood, have left their mark. The young characters from this novel express the dilemmas, doubts and passions of a whole generation in the scenario of the Spanish Civil War. This analysis tries to articulate the paratext, thematic and ideological aspects, alongside the novel's structure and other relevant topics. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion
