Between the 18th and 20th November, the inED Board – represented by Director Sílvia Barros and the Thematic Area Coordinators, Ana Barbosa, Miguel Santos and Pedro Rodrigues – carried out an international mobility mission to Johannes Kepler University (JKU) in Linz, Austria.
The visit formed part of the Centre’s internationalisation strategy, aimed at disseminating ongoing projects, strengthening partnership networks, and stimulating future joint applications for Research and Development funding.
Throughout the visit, institutional meetings were held with the Head of the Department of Educational Research, Prof. Dr. Christoph Helm, and with the renowned STEAM Education specialist, Prof. Dr. Zsolt Lavicza, as well as with several researchers and doctoral students from their teams. These engagements made it possible to identify concrete opportunities for collaboration, including the preparation of joint proposals for international funding programmes and the invitation of experts to take part in the inED Winter School and ICRE’26.
The mission also included direct contact with several of JKU’s scientific infrastructures, namely educational research laboratories — the Social/Community Living Lab, STEAM Innovation Research Lab, and Maker Space Network for Austrian Teachers and Society — which represent leading environments for pedagogical and technological experimentation. The team also visited ARS Electronica, an international centre of excellence in interdisciplinarity, innovation, and science communication, where they explored ideas for projects and resources that combine Science and Art.
This mobility initiative strengthens inED’s commitment to internationally oriented, collaborative research driven by educational innovation.
