Description of the space

The Education and Development Studies Office is a space based at the Viana do Castelo School of Education to support reflection on issues of Education for Development and Global Citizenship (ED/ECG), and the implementation and evaluation of programmes/interventions in this field.


Objectives

  • To train (future) teachers to include DE/GCE in their educational practices in an integrated way in the various subject areas.
  • To carry out research and disseminate knowledge on the integration of ED/GCE in the educational context, from the early years to higher education.
  • Promoting and supporting actions in the field of ED/GCE (e.g. seminars, ongoing training, courses, free events, film cycles).
  • Developing educational resources to support the integration of ED/GCE in formal education.

 

Description of the main equipment

The GEED Resource Centre consists of a bibliographic collection of more than 1,500 books on: Formal and Non-Formal Education, International Co-operation, Development Education, Volunteering, Citizenship.
